A Starting Place enrolls children from birth to age six in a variety of
programs,
fine-tuned to fit the needs of each child.
The services that we offer include:
Special education, psychological, behavior management, parent/child training,
occupational therapy, physical therapy, and psychiatric consultation. Staff and
parents work as a team with a child.
We believe that teaching parents how to
work with their children reduces the probability of later problems. We offer a
dynamic learning environment, utilizing a variety of teaching methods and
techniques. If a child is not learning a new skill, we look at all the reasons
why and modify our approach until the child is successful.
We evaluate a child’s motivation,
attention span, problem solving skills, and response to different kinds of
stimuli. We also observe the child’s interaction with staff, parents and other
children.
We are careful to maintain the delicate
balance between incorporating the latest educational theories and the individual
needs of the child.
