Philosophy

At A Starting Place we concentrate on the development of the whole child. Our program is designed to support the developmental growth of the child with individualized remediation.

 

Our Philosophy is that every child is born with strengths and weaknesses and that much is possible if we emphasize the positive.

Research has shown that the first six years of a child’s life are the most significant to his or her physical, mental, and psychological development.  The earlier we begin to work with a child, the greater the probability that we can facilitate the fulfillment of a child’s potential.

We think what makes our school unique is our behavioral approach to learning and our emphasis on remediation, rather than on diagnosis.  We help children learn to deal with frustrations and turn negative situations into positive solutions. We believe that any child can learn with the right behavioral components to teach appropriate skills.
